| Is there more to this answer? "You need" are the final two words, I'm not
sure what "I need" and I am having the same problem. When I try to restore
the .msbcm file it gives me some issue with not having permission to create
the backup, not that the password I type is wrong but that I didn't have
permission to create the back up. I guess I thought BCM 2007 would be
reverse... |

| i have created a new sales stage called 'Closed Not Continuing' for customers
who dont want to go ahead with an order right now but may in the future. The
problem is that this new stage is still keeping the opportunity open when i
want it to be closed - how do i get BCM to treat this stage like 'Closed Won'
or 'Closed Lost' in order to remove it from the open opportinities list?

| I want to do a mail merge to a lage batch of contacts and cc a specific
contact in all of the individual e-mails. I'm basically introducing a
teammate to my customers and want the teammate on the cc line. I'm using mail
merge to have each e-mail appear as a person note (i.e. merging in the

from the main menu "Business Contact Manager". It has Type of communication,
(business note, meeting, opportunity, etc.), Subject, Linked to and Create
date and who created it. I would also like a report with a comprehensive

a single contact (mail merge is too cumbersome for that). As I recall,
Outlook 2003 allowed you to create a letter in Word froma single contact...
but that feature seems to have diappeared in Outlook 2007. I also have

| I have some generic questions about BCM 2003 in a domain.
Where can I find instructions for setting BCM 2003 up in a domain
(shared database) environment?
Is there a limitation to the number of people that can access a shared
BCM 2003 database?
Does BCM 2003 integrate with Exchange or is it 100% separate in it's
own database?

| Ugh, I did this manually last week.
- Changed ~400 contacts from "Active" to "Inactive"
So far, I should have just stayed in Access or Excel for managing my
contacts. In total, I'll have another 3,000-ish contacts to edit in this
manner and do not look forward to the task. I am about to export my contact
database back into Excel, Delete all BCM contacts, perform my edits in Excel,... |

| I want to take the data from my Opportunities e.g. expected close date,
probability of closing, amount of closing, etc. and create a timeline/bubble
graph. I would like this to be a weekly report. Ideally, I'd like to avoid
having to write VBA code to do this and would prefer to use the Excel

| I am having the following issues:
1- Business Contact Manager failed to initialize the Common
language Runtime. The System can not find the file specified.
2- Business Contact manager can find the Data Base to
connect to.

| After using BCM for four months, all of a sudden, when I try to open the
history connected to a contact within Business Contact manager I get the
following error message:
"Could not load an object because it is not available on this machine"

| When I use the regular Contacts with Outlook and have an additional contact,
when I go to Save, there is a drop down arrow and I can click to Save and add
a new contact for the same company.
When I am using Business Contact Manager, there is no drop down arrow (that

| I'm sure this is a simple case of operator error but I've got a reminder box
for ALL my BCM contacts which I can't clear. When I click dismiss all the
reminders re-appear acouple of seconds later. I can snooze them, but I can't
dismiss them.
I've tried >run>outlook.exe/cleanreminders which hasn't worked. We're also
using OA if that makes a difference.
This is driving me mad!

| I fixed this issue by downloading and installing SQL Server Management Studio
Express
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=C243A5AE-4BD1-4E3D-94B8-5A0F62BF7796&displaylang=en).
I used management studio to opend the BCM database and deleted all security
and schema instances of the user in question.
Then used the BCM Database Tool to re-share to the user... worked... |

| Domain A: it is the primary domain, all clients log into domain A for email, file share and production applications.
Domain B: only a Windows 2008 server there, MS Office 2007 installed with BCM.
Domain A and Domain B is on the different network, and no any physical connection at all.

| Using Outlook 2007 w/bcm - user is connected to the company Exchange server
no problems, I then ask him to connect to the dB at the office (on SQL2008
sp1).
It errors out with a wrong username/password and it looks like the username
passed is the one on his pc not the account he logged into vpn and our
network with.

| I am in a real bind. I loaded Office Pro Plus 2010 (Beta) which installed
fine and running well. My problem is trying to load in BCM. I have
attempted at 8 times and nothing...I have sent frowns to support and to the
blog but I have not received a response.
The reason I am in a bind - as a condition of upgrade the OL BCM 2010

| Got an odd issue here. We're updating the server hardware (new server)
and OS (was SBS 2003 and now is SBS 2008). We backed up the BCM 2007
database that was running on the SBS 03 server to a .sbb file.
Now, new server with SBS 08, installed SQL Express 2008 and created a
new instance, and ran the BCM Database tool for 2010 and created a new

I ran into the same issue on one computer and I realilzed that on that
computer I had renamed the user. When you rename the user somewhere in the
background it still is stuck on the original name. I suppose this is a
security issue so that someone cannon simply rename the user of a computer
and get access to the BCM. I had to create a new user on the computer and
