| There is an option on the SAFE SENDERS tab to allow all mail from CONTACTS to
be considered SAFE. However, since all my contacts now reside in Business
Contact Manager, a lot of my email from my business contacts are being
treated as junk. Is there a way to point the SAFE SENDERS function to my
BUSINESS CONTACTS in BCM?... |

| My business is direct sales / network marketing so most of my contacts prefer
me to use their home phone / home address for contacting them.
There is no option to include HOME PHONE in reports and no option to include
HOME ADDRESS.
I have worked around the HOME ADDRESS problem by listing HOME addresses
within Business Contact Manager as a BUSINESS address, but I would prefer not... |

| You can create distribution lists. Any lists that you already had will no
longer work as they are pointing to records in OUTLOOK and not in BUSINESS
CONTACT MANAGER. Simply reselect any names by using the BUSINESS CONTACT
MANAGER address book (rather than the CONTACTS address book) and it will work.
Any new distribution lists you set up just need the address book pointed to
BCM to... |

| There is a way to do this (though it is not obvious without reading the
manual).
Open the e-mail, select E-MAIL AUTO LINK, check the box then select OK. This
creates a BUSINESS CONTACT record within Business Contact Manager. Now, from
within the e-mail, double click on the e-mail address in the FROM line and it

Your post is interesting, but sorry, I am a bit vague about those views you
mention. Does that mean that i can merely update an excel database and
import it to BCM and it will update fields but not overwrite or lose certain
data already in BCM?

I have just had a very frustrating day.
So far I have learned that BCM 2003 uses TCP port 56183 and that BCM 2007
uses TCP port 5356.
I have also discovered that BCM 2007 is hard coded to use port 5356.
Whenever I attempt to connect BCM 2007 to a 2003 shared database it reports

| I purchased Outlook 07 with BCM, looking to have everything integrated and
wanting to dump ACT!!
BCM seems a bit disperse to me, but what surprised me was what I think is a
MAJOR DESIGN FLAW.
BCM has lots of useless little stuff, and is missing a crucial element. They

| Why is it that when I select the accounts view, and show the reading pane,
the contacts assigned to that account don't show up in the space provided?
Also, the "Add" and "Remove" buttons don't do anything.

In BCM 2007 is there a more elegant way of e-mailing all contacts
linked to an account, other than filtering the contacts and then
selecting all eg Ctrl A or Edit Select all. Then choose to create a
new message to business contact.

| Try exporting to Excel first then bringing the data into the Business Contact
Manager. I have done this in the past and it worked pretty well. You may
have to customize your fields before or after the import into BCM as the data
finds it own ways in sometimes. The good news is that you can always start
from scratch with a new database file if you don't get it right the first

files. I am not an IT guy. My system is a standalone workstation connected to
a wireless network in my home.

| I have installed outlook 03 and BCM 03. Everytime I start outlook 03, BCM03
tries to load and then gives me an error message BCM has had an unexpected
error and has to close. Which It does. The restart option box is clicked
and when it re-starts it does the same. I followed the lead on here and
installed hotfixes and service packs, which fixed this problem. I now have a

| Yes, I miss that feature as well. Not sure why Jan K is saying it wouldn't
work.
If a contact has a 'manager' entry it connects the two, and if the manager
has a manager then same thing etc.
It works fine in Salesforce.com.

| I'll swear stuff I finally get Outlook/BCM to do works for a while and then
stops working. I used to be able to open two copies of outlook simultaneously
so I could have Inbox open in one view, and BCM Home open in the other. This
allowed me could access them both more easily. Now, I can no longer do this.
Anyone know how to do this anymore?

This is not meant as disrespect toward anybody who really gets into the
details of programming; but, I am a little bit upset that the hardest part of
restoring a failed system is the contact database.
I moved up to BCM from ACT! because I think (generally) that MS has a better
handle on applications.

now popped up again. I'm getting error now when trying to delete the
BCMReminders folder.
Real question is.. why on earth is this happening in the first place...
seems like a bug to me. I am thinking I should remove the connection between

| When I open an account or a contact in BCM07, I can not view the History for
the account becasue the Show History button apparently does not work. I have
tried closing and opening Outlook and I put the Show button on the quick
access bar. This button also does nothing. The Show General and Show Details

| I did that as my back-up plan, i.e. use a 2nd profile and open the saved BCM
database. What actually "turned on the BCM switch" was going into the Control
Panel, Mail, Data Files, and Adding a BCM Database. I sort of tripped over

| If you are scanning your emails with your Anti Virus the disable that option by
uninstalling your AV and then re-installing it without the mail
integration(scanning). The reason to do this above is that by only disabling the
scanning option does not take hold on some AV suites. Since we do not know which AV
you are using then hence the above.

That is exactly what I wanted. I wonder why they changed that? It was
simply called "Account" in the last few versions of BCM. I am sure there
must be a reason but it is not intuitive.
