| What is the difference between a blank appointment and one labeled private?
Only a few letters....
Why not use a second folder for your private appointments and create blanks
in the default calendar? (Sharing secondary folders isn't quite as easy as
the others need to add your mailbox to their profile.)

can send on behalf? I thought that a delegate can only send on behalf if
they have access to the inbox, so if it's only Calendar, its safe...?

| Have you restarted outlook since creating the meeting? There is a bug that
doesn't bring up the update option, but if you restarted outlook since
making the meeting, it should work as expected.

| #1 - I'm not quite sure I understand the problem.
#2 - You can create custom views to do this.
#3 - Outlook 2003? Will never happen. Outlook 2007 does offer more, although
they switched to color categories and removed labels.
#4 - Not sure if it will be in the next version or not.

| How are you sending the events? Is the category removed or just not colored?
Are you using rules to remove categories?
you need to use upgrade to color categories after adding items with new
categories to color them. (right click on the outlook today level folder and
choose properties. click the upgrade button.)

| Do you have birthdays or anniversaries starting before 1970? If so, try
fixing them to start in 1971. If not, export the calendar to excel. Copy
the appointments to a new calendar folder (after deleting all the hotsync
errors) then import the appointments from excel. Does it sync ok?

| Apart from hurry up and get them all on the same version, no.
I have not seen any workarounds mentioned - there are other challenges with
a mixed 2003/2007 environment as well. For example, Word's ability to Mark
as final does not work in 2003 so they can still edit the docs.
