I'm using Outlook 2007 with SP1. A specific user opens their Outlook and the
images or icons (for example on Outlook Today the clock image at the top) is
showing a red 'x' as it cannot show the image. I have logged onto another PC
and it does the same. No other user has this issue.

on a dell desktop machine. Disabling mcafee got all my email back in my inbox!

| I don't know which is more hassle; Waiting for OL to scan the data file each
time, or the "Trial & Error" method of disabling processes until I find the
conflicting one.
It is appears to be a conflicting program, because disabling all the startup
programs in "msconfig" appeared to cure the problem.
Also the "SCANPST.EXE" will scan an ".ost" file and the repair option also
works on... |

I finally managed to solved the Outlook 2003 'hang' while trying to import
the CSV file. It is not the RAM but adding 1GB more of RAM helps in
performance, it is actually one of the PST files giving the problem. This
Outlook profile has 13 PST attachments. Repairing the affected PST file using
scanpst does not drive the error away. What happens is that in this PST file,

I have had a signature file for a long time on my emails. Suddenly the
picture does not appear.
It is possible that I made a change to it and resaved it. When I go to the
signature file, it is in there.

context menu of "send to" is selected, after hitting send the window is left

| It is a different solution and I don't know if it works in Outlook 2007 but
in 2003 there's an option to save the sent messages (responses) in the same
folder where the message (responded to) is.
I use it and like it.
So, the rule for incoming messages is enough because it sends the incoming
messages to the right folder and then when I reply the response is kept on
the same folder.... |

| Yes, it is activated. I type the settings in there myself so I know it was
available at one point. I'm not sure what would have locked them though.
I tried accessing the settings through the control panel. No luck there
either. It is still greyed out. I tried opening Outlook in Safe Mode too.
Same result.

| I had problems with users using Outlook 2007 getting stuck in a Disconnected state, and it was linked to Cached Exchange mode. Not sure if your problem is the same thing, but try disabling the "Download shared folders" that is enabled by default when you use Cached Exchange mode. | The address book view shows ALL valid electronic addresses in your Contacts
Folder, which includes email, fax, pagers, etc. So the only explanation for
what you're seeing is that the Contacts in the folder you are displaying
have only fax numbers as valid electronic addresses. It cannot be otherwise.
