Overwriting a pst can corrupt it, and or, the profile.
It is not neccessary to store the pst in the default OL location.

With OL closed use the mail applet to add a new data file, set it as the
default and remove your 'old' data file.
Then copy your origonal old data file to eg My Documents; within OL,
File>Open>Data File......browse to its location.
