| Hard to say without any configuration information. Most likely you've tried
to configure Outlook with the wrong configuration settings for your mail
account. Contact your ISP for the correct settings and start with a new mail
profile.

| Does the email server you're connecting to support IMAP service? Not all do
and those that can usually must have it enabled. If the server doesn't
support IMAP connections, then you'll have to use POP on the other computer
as well. If you must use POP on both, be sure to set both machines to
"Leave a copy of email on the server" so all mail will be available to both
machines and set one... |

| Hi,
We have just setup exchange 2007 in our internal domain which is sending and
receiving mail fine.
However when you come to use Outlook (2007) and lookup your mailbox we get
the following error:
'The name cannot be resolved. The bookmark is not valid'
We have two GC's and three DC's which are all as far as we can tell by
running net and dc diag.

| You should have been able to recover the situation if you had researched
Vista help, or help from your laptop tech, without resorting to a
reinstallation.
Depends how you backed up as to what is restored, if you used Vista built in
backup it doesnt back up programs.
To backup the complete PC use a program such as Acronis True Image or Ghost
to name but two.

| If you upgraded from 2003 to 2007 you shouldnt need to have done anything.
2007 should have connected with your origonal data file, unless you opted to
create a new one, thus your mail & contacts would have been in place.

| Assuming you were using outlook, all data is in the *.pst file, named by
default outlook.pst. This is a hidden file, so you would have to search to
include hidden. You may also need to 'take ownership' - see win help - in
order to copy this file to eg your Documents folder of your current drive.

| If the pst is located on your HD, eg in your Documents Folder, the read only
archive is not set, you are not trying to open a later version pst with an
earlier version outlook and within outlook, File>Open returns an error msg,
then likely the pst was corrupted by whatever method you used to create it.
Try running scanpst.exe, the repair tool on it.
